Before You Drop Off Your Animal
To make sure your wild game is processed quickly, safely, and exactly the way you want, please follow these simple steps before bringing it to Ford’s Locker.
Tag Requirements
- Your animal must have the notched-out portion of the tag attached when it’s dropped off.
- The notched-out portion of the tag has to stay with the meat.
- We cannot accept untagged animals under any circumstances. This rule follows Utah state regulations for wild game processing.
Keep It Cool
- Cool your game as soon as possible after harvest.
- Avoid wrapping it in plastic or tarp directly — instead, use breathable game bags to prevent spoilage.
- Keep your meat on ice or in a shaded area until drop-off.
- For the best quality, bring your animal to us within 24 hours of the kill.
Field Dressing Tips
- Field dress immediately after the harvest to remove internal heat and reduce bacteria growth.
- Wipe out the cavity and remove excess hair, dirt, or debris before transport.
- Do not add water or rinse out the carcass unless absolutely necessary — moisture can promote spoilage.
Quartered or Boned-Out Animals
- We gladly accept quartered or boned-out animals.
- Please make sure each bag is clearly labeled with your name and tag number.
- Keep all meat clean, cold, and separated from the hide to prevent contamination.
Drop-Off Details
- Bring your animal to Ford’s Locker, 776 N 500 W, Provo, Utah.
- Check seasonal hours during hunting season on our website or Facebook page.
- If you have special instructions (cut preferences, jerky flavors, sausage type), we’ll go over them when you arrive.
Pro Tip:
Bring a cooler or container for transport if you’re dropping off boned-out meat. It helps us receive it faster, keeps it clean, and speeds up your check-in.
By Following These Steps
You’ll ensure your game is handled safely, efficiently, and with the care it deserves — so when you pick up your finished order, you’ll get clean, well-trimmed, and perfectly packaged meat every time.
